What people have told us
"I brought in my father's old Seiko — a mechanical piece that hadn't worked in years. The team here gave me a written note explaining what they found before touching anything. They were upfront that one small part might be hard to source. In the end the watch came back running well. I was kept informed throughout."

"My dress watch had a nasty scratch across the crystal — not deep, but noticeable. Jam Seri recommended a repolish rather than full replacement, which was less expensive and perfectly effective. They masked the case very carefully and the bezel looks untouched. Happy with the result."

"Dropped off a quartz watch for a battery change. Simple job, I know. But they also did a water-resistance test and found the crown seal had gone soft. They asked before replacing it — RM 25 extra, which was entirely reasonable. I appreciated that they didn't just go ahead without checking with me first."

"This is the second watch I've brought to Jam Seri. The first was a simple battery job; this time it was a vintage piece that needed a full service. Both times the experience was the same — clear communication, no pressure, and the watch came back in better shape than expected. They're the only workshop I trust with my pieces now."

"I came in not knowing which service I needed. The lady at the counter — Noraini — listened patiently and suggested I let them do the assessment first before deciding. That was the right call. Turned out my watch only needed a battery and a clean, not the full overhaul I was preparing myself for. Honest advice."

"Good shop, knowledgeable staff. My only note is that the heritage overhaul took slightly longer than originally estimated — but they did call to let me know and explained why. The movement has been running consistently since, so the wait was worth it."

In More Detail
A few cases worth describing
Heritage Overhaul
A 1970s manual-wind piece, family-owned
The Situation
A customer brought in a manual-wind dress watch from the 1970s that had belonged to his grandfather. It had stopped several years earlier and had been sitting in a drawer. The owner was unsure whether it could be repaired and how much that would cost.
What We Did
After a written assessment, we confirmed the movement could be serviced. The mainspring had not snapped, which was the main concern. We disassembled, cleaned, and re-lubricated the movement, replaced worn seals, and regulated it to within a few seconds per day. No parts needed replacement.
The Outcome
The watch was returned running reliably. Total cost was RM 630, consistent with the starting price for Heritage Overhaul. The customer described it as "exactly the kind of job I was hoping for." The watch is now worn regularly.
Crystal Renewal
A daily-wear watch with heavy surface scratching
The Situation
A nurse brought in a stainless steel watch she wore every day. The crystal had accumulated surface scratches over years of daily use — not deep enough to require full replacement, but enough to make the dial difficult to read in certain light.
What We Did
We assessed the crystal under magnification and confirmed that polishing was appropriate. The case and crown were carefully masked, and the crystal was repolished to remove surface haze. The work took three working days including a drying period for the protective masking adhesive.
The Outcome
Crystal clarity restored. Total cost RM 340. The customer was pleased that we hadn't suggested an unnecessary full replacement. She later sent a short message: "The dial looks like it did when I first got it. Thank you for being sensible about it."
Simple Service
A quartz watch assumed to be faulty
The Situation
A customer came in believing his quartz watch had a faulty movement — it had stopped twice in eight months despite new batteries each time. He was prepared to leave it for a full mechanical inspection.
What We Did
Our assessment found the battery contacts had a thin layer of corrosion, likely from a previous battery that had been left in too long. We cleaned the contacts, fitted a quality cell, replaced the deteriorated back seal, and water-resistance tested it. No movement fault found.
The Outcome
Watch returned within two days, total cost RM 135. The customer had assumed he'd need to spend considerably more. Seven months on, he dropped in to let us know it hadn't missed a beat.
